Mid-Life Crisis: Getting Better with Age
Mid-Life Crisis Introduction
Founded in 2018 in the guest room of a band member’s house—where noise was welcome, and food and drinks flowed freely—the self-described “Dad Band,” Mid-Life Crisis, has been delighting audiences in Antigua ever since.
What started as a group of friends coming together to make music and have fun quickly turned into something bigger. Their big break came when they were invited to play on the main stage at Cervecería 14. Disguised in costumes and wigs, they performed incognito for friends and acquaintances, leaving the crowd buzzing with curiosity: “These guys are good… who are they?”
During the pandemic, the band maintained their tradition of gathering every Thursday at a secret location. These sessions became more than just about music—they turned into a source of comfort and connection during challenging times. What began as jam sessions soon evolved into weekly social rituals, with more friends and family joining in to share the music and camaraderie.
True to their scrappy spirit, the band has practiced in the most unlikely places—construction sites, their kids’ bedrooms, you name it!
Mid-Life Crisis Members
Mid-Life Crisis considers itself a band of “misfit toys,” a brotherhood of middle-aged dads from diverse backgrounds (Guatemalan, Peruvian, American) and careers, including an aeronautical engineer, a restaurateur, a chemical engineer, and business owners. What binds them together is their shared passion for music.
Their repertoire spans decades, covering hits from the 1960s to the early 2000s, and they perform in both Spanish and English. Unlike most bands, Mid-Life Crisis is unique in that every member takes a turn singing lead vocals, making each performance dynamic and full of surprises.
