Quick Flight is the latest attraction to be added to Canopy Tours. It’s located in finca Filadelfia, a few minutes from the centre of Antigua. Antigua Canopy zip line is the most visited zip line park in the whole of Guatemala. Pascu Robredo, the manager of Antigua Canopy Tours told me that since in 2007, over 90,000 people have enjoyed the experience of zip lining!
Quick Flight has two elements. Firstly, you climb up to a wooden swinging bridge rather like in a jungle that takes you to a platform which is at 50 feet above the ground.
The second element is to jump from the platform to the ground. Don’t worry. You are wearing the latest safety equipment including a harness and helmet. Once you jump, a magnetic break slows you down so that you safely land onto a mat. Pascu told me that when you jump, you feel the adrenalin in you heart, but once you feel the break, you immediately become relaxed. From that moment you take notice of the splendour of the volcanoes and coffee plantations around you. From my time watching people taking the Quick Flight, I really noticed the change from fear as they looked down to the mat, stepping cautiously before jumping to the smiles and shouts of happiness as they stepped from the mat.
“I have never been so afraid in my life when on the platform waiting to jump”, said Anika from Germany. Anika loved the adrenaline and couldn’t wait to take the jump again!
