Well the bad news is that the hotel has closed but the very good news is that the restaurant lives on at the Posada de Santiago! David Glanville, as ever the ever effervescent host, serves some of the best food around Lake Atitlan.
If arriving at the public dock at Santago Atitlan, then perhaps it’s best to take a tuk tuk to the restaurant or if not, then it’s a ten minute walk. The Posada de Santiago also has it’s own dock for those renting a private boat. Either way, the Posada de Santiago has some great food.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the portions are big and hearty and consistently excellent! The menu is extensive and well priced. Starters include sharing plates like guacamole, cheese fondues and other such dips. The shrimp cocktail is a hit. their sandwiches are huge with their own baked breads. I can particularly recommend their tenderloin steaks and the pastas. As i said, portions are big so come hungry!
The owner loves his wine, and has a well stocked cellar. He has at times shown the cellar to the discerning.
Drinks and food are available at their lakeside Palapa Bar & Grill, as well as their outdoor rooftop Mirador.
They frequently have live music presentations. To see who’s playing, go to the Posada de Santiago Facebook page.
