An interview with the pushers at Fernando’s Kaffee

What has inspired you to dedicate special attention to coffee making at Fernando’s Kaffee?
“What inspires me is the passion for coffee that has grown on me in the last three years. It has driven me to participate in workshops with recognized people in the art of coffee making. This made me realize the world is always changing and with it, the world of coffee is also changing. That is why my intention has been to pay more attention to details: to the way we make coffee, froath the milk, and pour latte art. We’ve also incorporated some equipment to increase the consistency of our espressos”.

What does the future hold for interactions between Fernando’s Kaffee and its clients?
“I feel like people already know the creative, rebellious and unapologetic personality of the café by the slogan and by conversations with Fernando. But now I want to display it visually and interact more with other chocolate and coffee lovers around the world through social media. I want to maintain the cultural exchange and even the friendships that make our jobs so interesting. At the same time, I want to share all the new projects that are constantly coming up; always revolving around the finest “drugs” on Earth”.

We’ve seen you juggle around the kitchen, the coffee counter and the patio area. What are you working on now?
“My role in Fernando’s Kaffee has varied widely. Originally I was hired as head of the kitchen and staff supervisor when Fernando was abroad. However, due to the fact that at Fernando’s we are constantly innovating and diversifying, my attributions have rapidly grown. Now I get involved in more interesting tasks such as: the elaboration of pairing menus (diner with our signature “drugs”), custom cakes for special events, research and development and even field trips to create new products”.
Of course, everything that goes on at the café is fueled by the original pushers whose passion for preparing high quality chocolate and coffee never ceases.
