Walking past MUNAG last week, I was struck by the vivid paintings and Sculptures that I saw through the windows. I rushed into the gallery and immediately fell in love with the works by David Ordóñez. I think you will too!
Here’s a piece on the artist that I borrowed from Fundación Rozas Botrán. “David Ordóñez is recognized as a “decolonial teacher” of Guatemalan art. He has a PhD in Architecture from the University of Madrid. His art objects are proposals of great symbolic depth, which go back to the origin of the ancestral history of Guatemala, all inspired by the inexhaustible visual richness of indigenous culture influenced by the Spanish conquest. He has distinguished himself in promoting the preservation, research and education of Guatemala’s cultural heritage.”
The show runs until the 31st of August. I urge you to visit and as an incentive make the effort, it’s totally free to enter!
