At 17, Susanne Riedl whilst in Greece  created a farm life for 3 decades, a life of art and connection to nature, a connection which informs her work to this day.

She did intensive art and painting study in the class of Athens painter Theofanis Warelopoulos during 5 years. Presently, and for the past four years, Susanne has lived, painted and taught art in her studio and gallery in San Pedro la Laguna, Guatemala. Inspired by the pre-Columbian art and Mayan cosmic vision.

Susanne’s work explores a technical side and a deep psychological side. Drawing on her own long experience with paint and media, she gets all her pigments from natural earth, coal, and clays, and her pallet includes rich earth tones and vivid reds, and delicate warm tints, all of which she finds locally and turns into the paint she uses. Her compositions have a striking, sophisticated graphic quality, with elements arranged in a modern European way, as well as reflecting a Mayan sensibility.
