Congratulations to Luciano Tarabini owner of El Cazador Italiano and Andrea Acajabón Romero, partners in Tintofocaccia, the spectacular new Italian restaurant that recently opened in Paseo Antigua. I was lucky to be invited to the opening party and judging by the buzz of those there, Tintofocaccia is going to be a great success.
Luciano and Andrea’s concept was for a modern, relaxed outdoor dining experience; a little like the Italian Riviera but with views of volcanoes! With those huge parasols, you’ll be well protected from any rain.
What a great setting to enjoy an authentic Italian breakfast: typical sweet treats such as the legendary cornetto and stuffed focaccia omelettes – There’s even a stuffed lobster tail omelette. Intriguing! But if you don’t want to go “Full Italian”, then the “Casi Chapines” menu might be for you. Plus there’s a brunch on weekends from 10 AM- 1 PM.
The Home of Focaccia
As the name Tintofocaccia suggests, it’s the home of focaccia. But you may ask, what is focaccia? Well, Focaccia is a type of Italian flatbread, similar to pizza dough that is baked in a sheet pan and characterised by its dimpled surface. Focaccia is known for its soft airy interior and slightly soft golden crust. Oh, and it’s delicious! At Tintofoccacia, you’ll have twelve original toppings to choose from and they come with either fries or salad.
But as Luciano may say: “Focaccia isn’t for everybody”. So if that’s true for you, well don’t despair. There are salads, antipasti to share with your friends, as well as a full menu of pasta dishes and desserts.
Tintofaocaccia is located in the upmarket outdoor mall Paseo Antigua in Santa Inés at the entrance of Antigua. With free parking for 2 hours, you can enjoy delicious Italian cuisine and discover some of the latest stores. And I almost forgot, there’s a DJ every Saturday afternoon. Sounds like Negroni time……
