Cazador Italiano Deli – From Italy with Passion
Since 2008, El Cazador Italiano has been at the forefront of Italian restaurants in Antigua. Luciano Tarabini has always said that what has made El Cazador Italiano successful is that it only uses the finest products imported directly from Italy.
Every year, Luciano goes home to Italy to source out these products for his restaurant. He travels throughout Italy, spending time with famers and lucky for him at many wineries!
Maybe it was because so many of his clients wanted to enjoy these products not only at El Cazador but in their own homes that Luciano came to the realisation that it was time to open his own deli. “From Italy with love. Bringing to your table the true Italian culinary tradition.” He shouts from the kitchen. Welcome to El Cazador Italiano Deli.
In Guatemala, Italian products are overpriced. With the many contacts Luciano had made in Italy he decided to import directly from producers so getting great prices and giving his customers excellent value for money!
This is why Luciano made the decision to open El Cazador Italiano Deli. It’s a real Italian emporium. Luciano effuses about his products-
The Cazador Italiano Deli offers 9 cheeses in all including Parmigiano Reggiano- aged for 24 months, it is considered the finest mature cheese in the world according to the certificate Luciano waves at me. There are three types of Gorgonzola, Pecorino, with black truffle, fresh goat cheese and of course Mozzarella.
As for cured meats, The Deli stocks Parma hams, and Prosciutto. 4 types of Salami, Mortadella, Capocollo, cooked hams. and Granciale. Names that many of us have never heard of but taste so good are waiting for the shiny meat slicer.
Every day, from 7.30AM, you can find Luciano busy baking in the deli. He knows his bread! 4 types of Focaccia including Pepitoria and, Parmigiano. 3 types of Baguettes, Contadino and Ciabatta.
Pizzas are oven baked daily including the Quattro Formaggio, salami and artichoke, Margaretta and Quattro Stagioni.
His manager, the ever-smiling Mirko, expertly prepares sandwiches and slices of pizzas for the lunchtime rush.
On the shelves, you can find homemade pasta sauces such as Pomarola mushrooms, and Bolognese that take the stress out of cooking at home. Jars of olives and artichokes as well as many other delicacies are stocked.
Being a wine lover, Luciano takes great pride in the wines that he imports. There are over 25 wines from 7 regions of Italy including some superb Sangiovese, Chianti, Pinot Grigio and sparkling wine. For the quality, the prices are exceptional! Next, Luciano is planning to import some serious Brunellos and Barolos.
Oh, and there is some pretty outstanding glass crystal on the shelves!
Even the mineral water is imported from Italy. The very pure Surgiva. Both still and sparkling sourced from the Italian Alps.
Oh, and I nearly forgot to mention that The Deli now offers a home catering service for your private parties- And the meat slicer comes too!
