Ohana Tiki Hut recently opened in Antigua Guatemala, bringing Guatemala its first authentic Hawaiian restaurant and tiki bar.
Serving traditional Hawaiian style food, along with a large variety of tropical drinks, customers can experience some of the wonderful flavors of the Hawaiian Islands.
Ohana Tiki Hut is fortunate to have two distinct dining areas. Walking into the tiki bar, with the striking bamboo and palm thatch, you could easily imagine yourself at a beach side bar somewhere in the South Pacific. Stepping out into the courtyard area, you are transported to a beautiful, tranquil tropical garden, complete with hanging flowers and a peaceful fountain.
Some of the ono (Hawaiian for delicious) menu items include slow roasted pulled pork made with Hawaiian sea salt, tuna poke bowls, teriyaki beef and chicken, and coconut curry shrimp. All of their sauces are made in-house, including an incredibly tasty teriyaki sauce.
They also serve an expanded array of tropical drinks, including the iconic Mai Tai, Blue Hawaii, and a delicious Pineapple Margarita. Mocktails and a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are also available.
The idea of Ohana Tiki Hut began when its two owners, Ron and Manuel, desired to bring a new culinary experience to Guatemala. Ron grew up in Hawaii, and for years has been cooking Hawaiian food for family and friends. Manuel, who is Guatemalan, is a chef and has a passion for cooking amazingly ono food. Every dish served in Ohana Tiki Hut is made with love and dedication, always delighting with the unique flavors brought from Hawaii to Guatemala.
Ohana Tiki Hut is open Tuesday through Thursday from 12:00 Noon to 10:00 PM, on Friday and Saturday from 12:00 Noon to 11:00 PM, and on Sunday from 12:00 to 6:00 PM.
They are located at 2a Calle Oriente #30, just east of Convento Capuchinas. They are easily accessible from anywhere in Antigua and beyond, with free street parking.
Ron, Manuel and all the staff invite you to come feel the Aloha spirit and experience a taste of the Hawaiian Islands at Ohana Tiki Hut. Mahalo (thank you), and Aloha!
Sadly, Ohana Tiki Hut has recently closed. Qué Pasa will update if it reopens.
