The Selina community is caring and diverse. Selina is committed to giving back to the communities that have kindly opened their doors to the Selina family. That’s why “Selina Gives Back” was created as a way to connect with guests, staff and local community members through interactive volunteer activities.
They partner with key organizations in Antigua Guatemala, with the objective of fostering the education and growth of those communities. To reach this objective, Selina uses their locations and 2% of the total hours of their staff, impacting the community in a positive manner!
As part of their socially focused responsibility, Selina has created a variety of activities, projects, programs and initiatives to bring together the community to create change and awareness in adults and children from Antigua Guatemala and surrounding areas.
Some of the most successful initiatives and programs Selina has had along the years involve environmentally focused activities, job training in hospitality, entrepreneurship, educational programs and community work with animals and children.
Their efforts are reflected in their weekly and monthly programming which includes plogging around Antigua, where Selina guests and staff run and clean the streets of Antigua. Also reading programs for kids, gardening at Garden of Hope, art workshops, science classes for teenagers in association with ACAGUA the local scientific association, English classes for locals and Selina staff members and last but not least their hospitality program which includes a workforce development program in which vulnerable, unemployed and underemployed local community members are trained to enter a career in hospitality.
