Masil: Authentic Korean Flavors in the Heart of Antigua Guatemala
Masil is Antigua’s only Korean restaurant, bringing authentic flavors and warm hospitality to the heart of Antigua Guatemala. Owners Sejin and Ara, who first visited Antigua separately in the early 2000s, returned in 2019 to settle down with their children. In 2024, they opened Masil, inspired by the Korean word “Masil,” meaning a stroll through the neighborhood to visit friends—perfectly reflecting their vision of community and connection.
Masil is proud to have received highly positive reviews on Google, a testament to its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The restaurant’s clean, modern interior—designed by Dutch designer Machteld Oosterbaan—blends seamlessly with Antigua’s colonial charm, creating a cozy and inviting dining atmosphere.
The menu showcases healthy, home-style Korean dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, staying true to its motto: “Healthy yet tasty, just like home.” Every main dish is served with rice, the soup of the day, kimchi, and three traditional side dishes (banchan), offering a well-rounded and satisfying meal.
For starters, try a crispy buchimgae (savory pancake) with seafood or kimchi, or enjoy kimbap, Korean rice rolls filled with fresh vegetables and your choice of protein. For mains, savor Bulgogi Ssambap, Korea’s signature marinated beef dish served with lettuce wraps, or opt for the Bibimbap Original, a vibrant rice bowl topped with meat, shiitake mushrooms, vegetables, and a perfectly fried egg.
Masil is the perfect destination for those seeking authentic Korean flavors, hearty portions, and a welcoming dining experience.
And for those who want to bring a taste of Korea home, Masil also operates a Korean grocery store next door, stocked with imported favorites like instant ramen, rice wine, and snacks.
