Yesterday, I received a mail from Carla Pérez asking me to let followers of Qué Pasa know about a crowdfunding page that has been setup entitled “Help Children and their families Eat”. The world is suffering but for those like us living here in Guatemala, our chief concern should be for the poor and homeless here. Sadly, they are unlikely to be bailed out as many in the US and Europe have been promised!
Her is the mail that Carla sent me.
‘I am reaching out to you to request your help. A group of us expats (local and residing elsewhere) and Chapines, have come together to help families in Antigua that are in extreme need as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic and the measures undertaken by the government to put a stop to it.
We launched a crowdfunding campaign three days ago and have raised already raised over $9,000. On Monday, we distributed the first round of support to 19 families (97 individuals). Our goal has been to raise $15K so we may be able to help over 90 families over 4 weeks. As we knew when we started and are confirming daily, the need is much greater. We are hopeful we can raise more than our goal so we can help more families, (we’re already having to turn them away) for a longer period of time.
Here is the link to the campaign where you can learn more about our effort.

Would you be willing to help us spread the word among your readers on Qué Pasa’s social media and magazine? There are so many of us that love Antigua and want to help or would like to if given the opportunity.
Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide.
Best regards,
Carla.’
Please do take a few minutes and checkout the crowdfunding page. Personally, I was more than impressed by their actions.
