Hugo Pérez Panza Verde Gallery

Born in 1976, Guatemalan Hugo Pérez produces paintings, drawings and sculptures. Here at Panza Verde Gallery, Hugo Pérez over forty paintings are on display. Interestingly all the art was created in 2020 during a time of isolation for the world. However the paintings possess a happy a and childlike style that he is known for. He gets inspiration through the activity of everyday life. It is often the mundane and uncomplicated that he intentionally draws attention to; which we see over and over again but yet we take for granted.

One can be reminded of the historical, and also the everyday Guatemalan life through the symbolism in his paintings. It is in Pérez’s bold us of colour and vast contemporary style that these scenes come alive. His work is simplistic, fresh and authentic. Exhibitions featuring his work have been held in both Guatemala and the United States.
