If you are sitting in the beautiful gardens within the courtyard of Hotel Aurora, you really could not imagine within this peacefulness that you were in the centre of Antigua Guatemala!
The hotel is located only two blocks from Central Park, in the heart of La Antigua, Guatemala. This historical city, considered the most beautiful city in the entire Mayan world, was designated a Heritage of Humanity cultural site in 1965 by UNESCO. Antigua was also named the top city for travel by the Wanderlust Travel Awards in 2009.
For more than 85 years, travellers have sought refuge in this warm, cozy, secure hotel. Guests are greeted and continually provided first-class service by a professional staff, comprised of friendly, knowledgeable, multi-lingual, long-term employees.
Hotel Aurora is the oldest guesthouse in the city. It was built in 1926 by Mariano Castañeda, a local businessman. Mariano was a visionary, and even in the middle of the Depression era, he willingly sold his successful store and opened the first hotel in Antigua. Five generations later, Hotel Aurora remains open and symbolises the strength of one man’s dream.
The hotel has been going through a modernisation program over the past few years and now it has to be said the 20 rooms are quite stunning. Especially for the price!
The hotel is particularly liked by groups, especially visiting doctors etc from the United States. If you are thinking of bringing a group down, then Hotel Aurora would be your choice!
An excellent continental breakfast is included as well as wifi.
Hotel Aurora is truly a hotel that guests visiting Antigua return to, time after time!
