Annie & Felix. A Brew Loaf Story
Annie and Felix, two free souls, destined to meet. Complementing each other, and like many of us, eager to learn and succeed they decided to follow the exciting path of gastronomy.
Annie & Felix-Our beginnings….
Felix from England decided to make a tribute to artisan bread, dedicating time to research and learn about fermentation and baking. Annie, from Guatemala, admires this new process and decides to support him. Some days the result is great, others not so much, but together they find in this humble tradition a door to many opportunities.
They start their journey by building a wood fired brick oven using recycled materials donated from a friend. The support and encouragement from family and good friends give them a push to open a small café in the garage of their house with a few simple tables in the garden. This soon became an attraction for the public.
Freshly baked bread, sandwiches, wood fired pizzas, meat pies and muffins were the stars for their very satisfied customers, finding simple flavourful produce in this small café near the Cerro de la Cruz. This brief experience allowed them to appreciate the reward OF A JOB WELL DONE after dedicating time and passion.
This journey was short but the experience unique when an opportunity allowed them to open a small restaurant in an organic farm where they transmitted all their love and dedication to their menu. Freshly baked bread and fresh local ingredients became the protagonists of their kitchen. Starting with only a team of 2 and a few utensils they soon grew into a team of 19 and a fully operating kitchen serving breakfast, lunch, specials, pizzas, desserts, and drinks. Time and again loyal customers were coming back happy which made Annie and Felix feel the warmth of this community and gained the confidence and respect in the restaurant world.
Without the commitment and collaboration of their team who have always played a vital role in the restaurant’s success, they are convinced that most of their achievements would not have been possible, but….
THE STORY WASN’T MEANT TO END THERE….
An unexpected twist opened another door of opportunity at the newly built Cerveceria 14.
Unaware of the challenges ahead they were inspired to continue offering their customers the same quality of food for which they had become known for. From freshly baked bread, Neapolitan style pizzas, buffalo burgers, artisan sausages & sauces, rich homemade desserts and refreshing natural drinks are only a few amongst many tasty options. Our latest collaboration with Chef Mario Campollo from Santo Domingo has brought a new angle to many of our plates.
